Edit as much as you like, but don't remove any credits present. They are the small © symbols. Leave them alone. You may change the color to match your custom palette for your carrd but do not make them invisible or hard to see.
Don't claim as your own work OR use this template as a base for a different template OR use it for any commissions, paid or not. If you use this template, I don't care how much you edit it, go wild, but the credit has to stay intact and you cannot claim it as your own.
Do not use to promote illegal, harmful, or hateful content. No burn books, no hate blogs, no callout blogs, nothing of the sort.
At the bottom of the previous muse info section (should be the very bottom of the carrd unless you add other things), add a new #sectionbreak and name it what you wish. If you don't know how to do that, you can just copy the #muse1 break but you MUST rename it. Every section must have an individual name to link to, even if you just go with something simple like #muse1 #muse2 #muse3, so on and so forth.
Directly below that, add a scroll point ( the yellow line ), or as mentioned above, copy the previous scroll point and rename it if you don't know how to set one up.
Copy everything between #muse1 and your new section and drag everything into place. Make sure you highlight the individual containers to delete instead of each individual element as that will save lots of time by copying and moving things all at once. If done right, you should only have to copy / move four things for each new muse you add (the title + two sections + the return button), unless you also need to copy the section breaks.
Link to the new muse bio wherever you wish. If you link within the carrd itself, such as linking to it from the muse roster here, then you can just link with #whateveryounamedthis, but if you link outside of the carrd (i.e. from tumblr) then you need to put the full link. So your link would be ( https://yourcarrdname.carrd.co/#whateveryounamedthis ).
The muses are divided into rows of three. There is a new container for every row to prevent uneven spacing. To add more muses, you need to duplicate the container as a new one instead of adding to the same one, keeping only to a row of three per container.
Make a copy of the image and description sections and move them into place. There should only be two things to copy per new muse.
If a row has an empty space with no muse, click on the container, select the column that is empty (left, middle, or right) and check the box that says "use as spacer". If you have two muses in a row instead of three and want them to center, delete the empty column and the other two will adjust automatically. If you need to re-add the column later when adding another muse, just click "add column" and the sizes should also automatically adjust in that case as well.
Make a new yellow scroll point and place it between the last category container and the dividing line before the "scroll to top" button, or wherever you want your new category to go if not at the bottom. Give the scroll point a unique name.
Copy a box with the category title and a box with the section of muses in it and move them below the new scroll point you have just made.
Click the category buttons at the top, add a new button, and link it to the scroll point you just made. You can rearrange the buttons if the order of the categories has changed.
The banner on the front page is most suited for images at a 3:1 or 2:1 ratio depending on personal preference. It should be at least 1000px wide for best results. (The one that comes with the template is 2000px wide.)
Images on the muse roster are roughly around a 5:3 ratio. They will resize based on width, so don't worry about exact size other than matching them with each other by ratio. They work best if they are at least 360px wide or greater.
The tall image in the muse bio template is at a 9:16 ratio. It will also resize based on width. If you make the bio longer, you may want a taller image, or to add another column to the container so it does not outgrow the image too much and make the spacing look weird. The image here will work best with the current spacing if it is at least 450px wide or greater.

--- From an outsider's view, Yesod is someone who can easily be written off as an unfeeling, cold machine-- he is callous and blunt, and spares no detail in his objective assessment of every situation. If something is off, a single thing is out of place, or order is not established, he is the first to address it. He appears driven by a need for perfection, an inner drive to make sure everything is exactly the way it should be. Given the lifetime he spent in perfect, micro-managerial control of L-Corp's Information Team, this should not come as a surprise. In a place where every single mistake- a single hair out of place- could mean the immediate death of dozens of employees, it's not hard to imagine how such a personality could be fostered. It is whispered, however, by what few fragile souls remain from that time, that he was once a man of incredible kindness- though still a perfectionist- a sharpened by the pain of inevitable betrayal and loss. After all, there are always those who will exploit every weakness-- and in the halls of L-Corp, even something as pure as trust was the cruelest weakness of them all.
--- As the Patron Librarian of the Floor of Technological Sciences, however, Yesod's incredible analytical skills were allowed to flourish and develop without the constant fear of losing entire sectors of employees at the slightest mistake. He remains openly blunt and and willfully corrects anyone or anything that is out of place, but he has also mellowed out quite considerably since his time at L-Corp. He is polite, even-tempered, discusses his reasoning for his corrections, and is less immediately harsh in his criticisms than before. On rare occasions, he has even been observed praising the actions of others when they fit into his strategies-- therefore allowing those people ever so slightly closer to the man he truly is. Backhanded complements are also commonplace for him, however.
INTERNAL
--- When it comes to the way his mind works, Yesod is a very straightforward person. He knows what needs to be done and when, and is able to derive the necessary actions to achieve objectives with ease. When in a position of power, he runs his team with an incredibly strict mindset, allowing for little variability (and by extension, little risk). He is vehement and stubborn in his decisions, and often chastises those who do not follow the plan set out for them-- but it isn't out of a need to be in control. Rather, it is what he has determined to be the safest path, objectively. Yesod goes out of his way to minimize losses and casualties, and being someone who is caring or personable... allows colder people to take advantage of him. It was a lesson he learned the hard way, at the cost of countless lives. A mistake he has no desire to repeat. No matter how much as his employees at L-Corp whispered of him as a cold-blooded, emotionless dictator, he continued to withdraw from all of them, as well as his fellow Sephirah.. and regarded the comments as nothing more than compliments. To be considered empathetic, after all, is to be considered weak-- and weakness has a cost. It always does.
---In reality, Yesod is a far more caring person than he lets on. Though he professes that empathy, trust, and emotional attachments are unnecessary, he spends all of his energy on keeping those in his charge safe, and makes himself responsible for their very lives. That is the reason he is so harsh in his criticisms, and quick to correct the slightest of errors. After all, dozens of lives depend on him, and he cannot afford to be careless. After his unsealing in the Library, he has continued to be a perfectionist, and maintained the neatest and by far the most organized floor of the library. After the events at L-Corp and his subsequent sealing in the Library, Yesod is a far more mellow figure, though still a bit rough and strict around the edges.

It is a reflection of his handling of the world around him, as well-- prevention is the best solution, even if it means covering up a wound he is always conscious of. DETAILS
--- Yesod was.. not always Yesod. The barest inkling of memories had always followed him, throughout his time at L-Corp. Things he could never quite reach, murky in the back of his mind. He lived like that for an unspeakable amount of time, existing in a transient state-- consumed by paranoia, obsessive in his need for perfection, and yet imperfect in his ability to recall how he'd gotten to that point. He was kind, at first, a strict but humble presence to guide the Information Team. He spent time with his employees, grew close with them, and entertained their games and quirks. He lived his life, even with the nagging fear that his mistakes would harm those in his care.
--- Inevitably, something was bound to break, however. With the presence of so many different kinds of individuals in L-Corp, there were many who were genuine in their pursuit of success, thriving in the information team.. but there were also individuals who were not.
--- Due to the strict nature of his guidance, his employees were not permitted to work with the L-Corp's abnormalities after being observed to be under a certain amount of stress. Yesod's watchful eye and careful monitoring facilitated their survival, and his rules were in place for good reason. His rules saved lives. They kept both the employees and abnormalities from harm. His employees usually obeyed these rules, but it just so happened that on this day, one employee did not. The man made a request to Yesod to work with an abnormality above this certain threshold, insisting that it was fine-- they would meet their energy quota for the day, and then continue on like everything was normal. His name was James-- and he'd begged the Sefirot to allow him this chance to get the work done. He leaned into their friendship, insisting it was fine.. And eventually, Yesod agreed.
--- The man purposefully unleashed two of the facility's creatures that killed seven people, and lost both of the abnormalities as well as four employees in the process of getting the situation under control. The stress consumed James, and Yesod was tasked with personally eliminating the man. Though he did not grieve for the employee, the Sefirot blamed himself for his weakness, for allowing an employee to exploit him in such a way. Following that incident, he refused to allow himself to interact with the employees in such a way, and closed himself off from everyone.
LOBOTMY CORPORATION — Canon. [SPOILERS]
--- During the events of the L-Corp incident, Yesod finally managed to uncover the murky secrets of his past, unearthing the truth. His physical appearance was merely a cognito filter, covering that of a robotic hull as is the case with the rest of the Sephirah-- and it was built using the body of the human "Gabriel", of whom he shares a likeness and now, memories.
--- As one of L-Corp's scientists, one who worked during the time of their Cogito experimentation, he was responsible for organization and coordination of experiments, as well as preparing safety precautions and supplies. After an incident involving the painful demise of one of his coworkers, he doubled down on safety measures and began to be incredibly strict with the rules he implimented. He professed that this strictness was necessary for the survival of himself and his coworkers, and followed every single rule to the letter. He began covering himself up, claiming it was to protect himself from hazards like chemicals or infections, as well. Gradually, his preoccupation with the rules grew into a need to follow them, and finally devolved into obsession.
--- Gabriel gradually became less and less expressive, more neurotic, and almost entirely emotionless. Eventually, he could no longer bear to have even slivers of his skin exposed, and would scratch fiercely at it whenever visible. It got to the point that his coworkers had to physically force him into medical examination. He was found to not be infected and eventually released-- but he never got better. His psychological torment and obsession continued, worsening until his inevitable demise at his own hand.
--- He had no choice but to confront his past, and began to come to terms with it-- acceptance came to him slowly, but some of his gentleness and understanding came with it. Yesod embraced his concern for those around him, though he continued to remain rather distant from them out of habit. Due to Angela's later betrayal and uprising, Yesod inevitably had to come to terms with defeat-- a begrudging compromise. He was put into stasis with the rest of the Sefirot, despite retaining his contempt for Angela's betrayal alongside his fighting spirit. LIBRARY OF RUINA — Canon. [SPOILERS]
--- He is awakened by the unlocking of his floor of the Library, and enlisted to assist Angela with the continued expansion and categorization of the library itself (much to his chagrin). Though he resents his position as he is forced to work alongside the one who betrayed them all once more, he is shown to be one of the most competent and organized of the Patron Librarians. He is both effective and precise, enabling him to process the books provided to him at an incredible speed.
--- He desires to continue the research of L-Corp in his own way, without the death and destruction imposed by Ayin's research-- but still using the results of it, which he can't help but regret. Though he did not get his original wish due to Angela's betrayal, the deal struck between her and the other Sephirah at least allows him the ability to chase that dream they had so many years before.
--- He witnesses the changes in the Library as it expands, and catalogues the data and information as it is taken in, and analyzes the library itself; he begins to understand the method of its creation and the way it works, though he and Angela were at odds with eachother throughout his time as a Patron Librarian.
ELYSIAN CAIM — AU.
--- Now, he awakens once more, meeting the future again. Yesod does not remember when or how his form had dissolved once again, nor does he know how he is truly capable of 'death' at all. Even so, he will continue to explore the boundaries of the universe, and grow to understand the information presented to him.

Vanitas is a young man who exists in purposeful contradictions. He is a maze, drawing hungry eyes away from the innermost truth.Suave and charming one moment, awkward and brash the next, yet never visible below surface deep. He goes to great lengths to conceal himself from the rest of the world, keeping out even the closest of his allies. He holds everyone at arms length-- without exception. He is a carefully conducted fascimile of a person, every detail of himself something he has decided to show to prying eyes. Vanitas is quick-witted and sharp, always a step ahead of everyone else. He guards his true feelings- his weaknesses- fiercely, and immediately shuts out anyone who so much as attempts to see a more genuine side of him. He presents himself as a driven and intense sort of person; one who does and takes whatever he wants, without so much as a thought for the desires or pain of those around him. If he doesn't care for them, after all, they will certainly see him as a selfish person, and not trouble themselves with anything that may be lying below that. He lies without a second thought, disregards emotions and crosses lines, and makes himself generally unpleasant to be around. If he needs someone, he simply manipulates or blackmails them into doing what he needs-- because that is the only reason they would cooperate, right?Vanitas doesn't bother with democracy, and visciously lashes out when pressed for the reason he is so distant. He's rude, callous, and impulsive, unable to genuinely form connections, and often struggles with any sort of feeling that isn't just a performance. Overall, he is someone that people shouldn't bother with.Or, at least, that's what he thinks of himself.
Truthfully, he is a rather pessimistic and downtrodden person, one who carries a burden of incredible loneliness. In pushing away everyone around him, he believes himself to be safer, seeing it as a necessary step to keep himself alive-- and to keep others from being deeply wounded by his inability to trust. Despite hating humans and vampires alike, and blaming all of them for his pain, he sees himself as the worst among the living, a curse on the lives of those who surround him. A crux, if you would, of nothing but misfortune. So, he pushes. And pushes.. and separates himself from everyone else. Not only does this isolation keep him safe, but it protects anyone he would be afraid of hurting. It keeps them from feeling more than annoyance for him, and spares them the misfortune of trusting him. Just as he cannot trust others, he believes others trusting him is just as foolish. At the end of the day, he does all of this out of fear.Still, there are occasions where the true Vanitas slips through. There are moments where the pain beneath his fascade is visible, where light shines through the cracks. Most of the time, these displays are nonverbal-- cues that can be observed about him, rather than something he says, but.. there are times where he is kind. Observant. Moments where he looks out for others, putting himself at risk to save them. Often, he disguises this as another selfish manipulation, making it look as though he's coming out on top, despite experiencing great risk or even harm to himself. Most of the time, he refuses to acknowledge these gestures, instead proclaiming that he merely does whatever he wants in the moment, without thinking much about it.Overall, he is a deeply flawed and scarred person, one who struggles with trusting others and is virtually unable to feel safe.

Vanitas was born to a set of human parents-- his mother, a traveling performer, and his father a doctor who accompanied her. His mother died in childbirth, thus leaving the child to be raised solely by his father and the group they traveled with. From an incredibly young age, Vanitas' father taught him the medicinal skills he had, and shared with him as much knowledge of the world as one man could. They traveled together for just shy of a decade before the traveling performers were viciously attacked by a group of vampires. Vanitas' father died protecting him, leaving the child the sole survivor of the attack. Left on his own, an orphan by every right, he was taken in by the church, and immediately began enthusiastically training to become a Chasseur. He had developed a newfound hatred for all vampires, desiring nothing more than to wipe their very existence from the planet.While undergoing this training, Vanitas inevitably drew the attention of a certain doctor-- one who was looking for test subjects, human experiments who wouldn't be missed. Moureu was his name, a man who intended to play God-- to create vampires from normal humans, vampires that were capable of being controlled. Thus, Vanitas was named "Number 69", and subjected to various kinds of experiments-- in addition to being forced to observe the torture and slaughter of countless vampires in the pursuit of science. Though he was allowed every opportunity to escape, the child was told that another would simply be kidnapped in his place. So, he never fled-- never damned another to go through the horror he already had.
It was then he decided that vampires and humans were to be equally condemned. They were all guilty.After some time, the child was tasked with looking after another-- Mikhail, dubbed "Number 71" by the doctor. The two were awkward around each other to begin with, considering Vanitas' standoffish nature, but he complied nonetheless. They grew closer over some time, Vanitas taking care of the younger child the best he could. Eventually, though, the doctor declared that he would be putting Mikhail through an experiment that was certain to result in his demise.Vanitas volunteered in his stead, in an effort to protect the younger boy.Following this, the two of them became inseperable-- Mikhail learned to rely on Vanitas, and Vanitas to allow someone close to him once more. However, Vanitas' willingness to volunteer for experimentation only damned them further. Moreau decided to use the blood of the Blue Moon Vampire to partially turn the children into Blue Moon-kin, in hopes that they would be capable of opening the Books of Vanitas. After days of experimentation, the doctor revealed that the experiment was intended to kill the both of them.Before he could follow through with it, however, the Vampire of the Blue Moon returned to collect their books, destroying the facility in the process. As pseudo-kin to the vampire, Mikhail begged Vanitas to take the two with them-- to which the vampire agreed.Mikhail seemed incredibly attached to the Vampire; that did not change once the Vampire introduced themself-- Vanitas, however, promptly made an attempt to kill them, driven by a hatred for all vampiric kind. By then, however, the sickness from experimentation overcame him, and he collapsed. It was only after the vampire continued to care for him that Vanitas introduced himself properly, and set aside his grief.The following day, the Vampire told the two that they would die if their condition was not treated. They offered the two a choice: if they wished, they could all travel together, and attempt to find a cure. The children agreed.And so, the thee of them traveled together-- eventually, they all grew closer, though the young Vanitas was wary at first. Eventually, however, he accidentally called the Vampire "Luna", a name they seemed to thoroughly enjoy. They continued to grow closer after that, even to the point of allowing the Vampire into his space; to comfort and guide him. At some point, they gave the two boys each a Book of Vanitas,However, both boys' conditions continued to get worse-- Mikhail far more so than Vanitas. Luna offered to turn the two of them into actual Kin of the Blue Moon, which Mikhail readily accepted-- Vanitas, however, refused. When Luna Marked him against his wishes, he killed them.. and left behind a critically wounded Mikhail, who he believed to be dead due to the Marking process.Believing himself the sole survivor once more, Vanitas traveled the country, intent on curing all vampires of their Maladies using the Book of Vanitas, indiscriminantly.

zack was born in the town of gongaga in the year 1984. he was a restless child, one who was always bright and energetic in all pursuits -- though he always dreamed of far more than a little town could provide him. his parents did their best to account for his wild and optimistic nature, but they couldn't talk him out of his dream, which was to join SOLDIER; to become a hero worthy of the name and title. his parents were vehemently against the idea, but zack had always wanted to be a person who people could depend and rely on, one who risked life and limb to save others. so, he ran away from home at age thirteen (in 1997), and signed on with the shinra military.there, he trained under a first class SOLDIER by the name of angeal, a man who cut no corners and was brutal in his honesty -- still, the two grew close as mentor and student over the next few years. though zach struggled to overcome his own limitations at first, angeal always urged him onwards, and pointed out his flaws meticulously -- most notably, his overconfidence. by 2000, he made SOLDIER second class, just a few steps away from realizing his dreams. eventually, angeal recommended zack to be promoted to first class, after having him train with sephiroth on multiple occasions.it was around the same time that genesis rhapsodos, another first class, had turned on shinra, deserting and taking a number of soldiers with him, and zack and angeal were sent on a mission to fort tamblin.during this mission, despite rescuing zack and claiming to think of him as more important to him than his family heirloom, the buster sword, angeal later defected -- though sephiroth rescued zack from genesis, zack refused to believe that angeal could have deserted shinra.zack was later sent to investigate his mentor's defection -- during the mission, he was attacked and injured by genesis, though angeal saved him once more. zack later went on to defeat the summoned dragon bahamut, who genesis sent after him, and was promoted to SOLDIER first class shortly after.following this, he was enlisted to wage war against genesis and his army, including angeal -- who he and sephiroth later discovered was a scientifically altered being, created using the cells of an alien being known as jenova. the two clashed a few times -- his conflict with his previous mentor allowed zack to meet aerith gainsborough, following an altercation with the man that sent him falling into the slums outside of her church. the two became fast friends, and he frequently went to visit her.on his way to one such visit, he was interrupted midway and sent to the town of modeoheim, alongside a group of infantry soldiers -- one of whom was cloud strife, a man he quickly bonded with over their similar backgrounds. it was there that zack infiltrated an excavation facility that hid both genesis and his former mentor, both of whom he defeated. in the process, he gained his signature cheek scar, and inhereted both his role and the buster sword from angeal. from then on, zack carried on his hopes and dreams, putting his honor above all else.the year following, he, sephiroth, and cloud were all dispatched to nibelheim, cloud's hometown and site of the nibel reactor. it was within, the three guided by tifa lockheart, that sephiroth discovered his origins, and turned on zack and cloud. zack tried as hard as he could to get through to the man, but was forced to fight him. he was defeated, though cloud managed to stab sephiroth with the buster sword and send him into the lifestream, which partially degraded his physicl form.it was in the aftermath that he and cloud were kidnapped by the man who had orchestrated the jenova experiments-- professor hojo. the two young men were experimented on for four years, after which he liberated himself and a critically ill cloud. because of this escape, they were branded traitors and fugitives by shinra, and were forced to go into hiding. it was after this that they once again hunted down the remnants of genesis, who zack defeated once again in the underground ruins of an expansive shinra facility.following this event, he and cloud made the decision to return to midgar and become mercinaries -- though the two were ambushed on their way to the city, despite the efforts to interrupt their arrival. though zack fought back as much as he could, he could not withstand the might of shinra's army, and was gunned down mercilessly. in his final moments, zack imparted the buster sword onto cloud, leaving him with only his legacy.
What can be said of the man who has seen everything? He has witnessed the rise and fall of civilizations, crushed countless empires beneath the heel of his own. He has lived countless lives, told countless stories, and pushed ever onward towards a single goal. He has outlived every pain of the sundered, and explored every facet of their ephemeral existence. He has faced the depths of mortal despair, and lived the highest of luxuries.Even so, he finds their existence utterly absent of meaning. He will not, cannot emphasize with them— those lower creatures sentenced to endless death and suffering. As a higher being of Eitherys, he considers the short-lived shards that inhabit the planet to be foolish and practically subhuman— this is, of course, to distance himself from whatever happens to them in his rejoining of Eitherys' shards to their Source. Each Rejoining comes at the cost of thousands of lives through the calamities that preclude and follow it. He is cold and callous in equal measure when greeted with the plight of those who should suffer for his designs, and completely dismissive of their anger.Like the other Ascians, his motivations for causing Rejoinings are purposefully concealed from those he considers beneath him or wholly unworthy of knowing. However, that does not mean he possesses no motivations. In fact, they are almost comedically simple— his sole driving force is to reclaim the lives sacrificed to avert the Final Days of Eitherys, and restore the planet to the paradise he knew. In doing so, he chases the fleeting glimpses of true happiness he once so heinously took for granted— and the souls he could not protect.
For all of his cruelty and scheming, there is something more complex beneath Emet-Selch's disillusioned and jaded exterior. It is not kindness, per se, but it is far more gentle than the theatrical evil he presents himself as. Despite his reservations, he makes genuine attempts to know and understand the plight of the sundered— even if he does not consider it worth sacrificing all he has ever known and loved. Of the remaining Ascians, he was the most drawn to reason, and gave even his enemies what he believed a fair attempt to earn their continued existence. Unlike the dutiful Elidibus, the destructive Lahabrea, and far, far removed from the nihility of Fandaniel, he has retained his ability to pass judgement on those who now inhabit his star rather than annihilate thoughtlessly.It is his choice, and always will be, to set aside their lives for those he considers complete.Having witnessed the loss and destruction of all he once held dear, there is an undercurrent of sadness that runs beneath his demeanor; it is heavy, burdened with the thousands of lives he seeks to restore. He puts on quite a grand show, but there is no question that his slow progress in restoring Eitherys weighs heavily on him. Now that he has failed, he is accompanied by reservation— all of his talents and abilities, in all of his boundless reserves, even he was unable to reinstate the past held so dear to him. It is at that point he has no choice but to concede his defeat.Though he cannot have his world back, he may at least have peace.

GENERAL
- Aetherial Manipulation — As is commonly observed with most Ascians, Emet-Selch is capable of feats of magic that would be impressive to the common bystander. However, he is notably skilled in magic, and acts as a nigh-inexhaustible source of Aetherial energy. Additionally, he is capable of channeling these abilities through simple physical gestures (most frequently a snap). This allows him the abilities both commonly and rarely associated with the Ascian race, used at a significant level of expertise:
• Spatial manipulation, most notably teleportation of himself and others at will. Distance is no concern, nor is he bound by laws of spatial displacement. He is capable of levitation, slowing the descent of himself and others, and other various feats.
• Creation magic on both a grand and minute scale, as evidenced by his faithful recreation of the ancient city of Amaurot. It is influenced by both thought and feeling-- wayward examples of either can create flaws in the creation, or outright failure of it.
• Possession, though he prefers to remain in a single body for long periods of time-- or, when possible, not at all. He is also capable of altering the physical appearance of a body he inhabits.
• Soul sight, or the ability to physically observe subtle differences in the aether of living beings. He is adept at using it in conjunction with aetherial manipulation, as observed in his removal of Y'shtola from the Lifestream.
His is a long and storied history. Prior to taking the seat of Emet-Selch amidst the Convocation, Hades was not lacking in ability or skill-- manipulation of aether has always been trivial for him. His intellect was unchallenged, and his nigh-endless reserves of aether complemented this perfectly. However, despite his egocentricity, he was never vocal about his abilities-- preferring to remain undisturbed in his work. He refused to participate in things considered beneath him, though he upheld a strong moral compass-- when there was substantial good to be done that befit him, he would do so without hesitation, and he all but refused to leave a task unfinished.It was after he met the at-present occupant of the seat of Azem that this began to change. Venat, as she was known, spread word of his skill and deeds to the rest of the Convocation-- and with their previous choice refusing the seat of Emet-Selch, it was he who was accepted into their ranks. Despite his off-putting personality and general irritability, it was his deeds that earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and the general populace alike.During the advent of the Final Days, he was one of the Convocation who was originally conflicted on the creation of Zodiark, despite understanding the necessity. Given no other choice, he devoted himself fully to supporting the primal's creation-- refusing to allow the sacrifice of his people to be in vain. That, alongside what is certainly tempering, drove him to vehemently oppose Venat's sundering of Zodiark.In the countless millennia after, he lived numerous lives-- observing the newly sundered souls of Eitherys with revulsion. It was with his interference that so many of the world's shards were Rejoined with the Source, and his planning that resulted in the most success.The most notable of his inhabited forms was that of Solus Zos Galvus, the most notable and first Emperor of the Garlemald Empire. It was he who raised Garlemald to greatness, and his knowledge was invaluable to setting them ahead technologically. Following his 'death,' Emet-Selch was given the freedom to continue enacting his plans-- and began to do so shortly following the war for succession.His influence would be felt in almost every major event to come.
Externally, Ardbert is a man who presents very differently to those he meets and those he is close with. His kindness and compassion are not exclusively reserved for his friends, but there is no doubt that time and grief have made him world-weary. He can be a little standoffish to strangers, especially those who don't immediately present themselves as having good intentions. He has something of a cynical streak, an undertone of hopelessness and helplessness that remains present despite beginning to find good in the world once more.Causing the Flood of Light that destroyed the vast majority of the First has deeply impacted who he is as a person; though he was once a very gentle and noble soul, that darkness in him has certainly soured him to such kindnesses. He is bitter, and often a little rude.That does not mean his kindness is entirely absent, however. It is still very much a part of who he is-- at heart, he is a protector, first and foremost. Though trying to good lead to the destruction of the world as he knew it, and cost the lives of his friends and family, Ardbert still holds onto the vague ideal that there has to be some good in the world. Despite his cynicism and dismissive attitude, he holds fast to his determination and the hope that was rekindled in him by the Warrior of Light. Slowly, he began to relearn his love for the world, and all that resides within it.
Internally, he carries an incredible font of guilt within him. Ardbert bears the countless deaths on the First directly on his shoulders, having been spared the noble sacrifice his dear companions were offered to make up for the evil his wish caused. He, instead, watched the world itself struggle onward-- barely able to continue eking out a shell of an existence. He helplessly watched the people of the First suffer and die, unable to lift a finger to aid or protect them-- unable to touch, be felt, or seen. A specter he remained, losing hope and giving into despair all the while.It was only at the arrival of the Warrior of Light to the first that he was able to exist as more than a faded spirit, they the one person finally able to see him, and they the only one to have a chance at saving the world he once loved. A true hero, in all aspects-- one he dismissed, originally.Through countless trials and tribulations, untold pain and suffering, Ardbert has faltered and faded-- but never given in. Not truly. Through using his soul to save the Warrior of Light and put an end to the threat facing the First, he has begun to rediscover the heroism he once clung so tightly to.

Born into a perfectly typical family on an island in the Kholusian Sea, Ardbert Hylfyst was the ever adventurous child-- drawn by a love for exploring, and a desire to protect those he cared for, he longed to travel the world to save people from harm. His parents raised him with great care, and his father taught him to tend to animals in his youth-- fostering in him a love for living things and a natural curiosity. Despite this, he lived a lonely childhood-- with no other children to keep him company, he spent his time among the animals of the island. His desire to wander never abandoned him, however, so it was the moment he turned eighteen that he left to become an adventurer.For a few moons, he spent his days training and completing various commissions across Kholusia, doing everything on his own-- until a commission to track down a hobgoblin led to him having a very near brush with death. It was then he met the first of his friends, Lamitt, a dwarf who healed him from the brink of death. The two became close companions, and traveled as an adventuring party from that day forth.Eventually, their group broadened to include Branden, Renda-Rae, Nyelbert and Cylva-- adventurers who had formed a bond with the two, for one reason or another. Each of them received the Blessing of Light on their travels, and the crystal to accompany it; including Ardbert. They all traveled the First, lending their aid to the peoples of it and growing in fame and renown.At the behest of their position as Warriors of Light, the group eventually set out to face the Shadowkeeper, the one responsible for orchestrating the forces of darkness in the first. It was revealed to them during their conflict that the Shadowkeeper was none other than Cylva-- manipulated into doing the bidding of the Ascians, Loghrif and Mitron, in their quest to cause another Calamity on the Source.Ardbert hunted down the two Ascians-- destroying one and inflicting the other with a blade of light, one that turned him into the first of the Sin Eaters-- creatures of defiled light that hungered for nothing but aether. It was Ardbert's wish to forever conquer the darkness, combined with his use of the blade of light, that drove the beast he created-- Eden-- to unleash a wave of pure Light upon the First. It corrupted and destroyed all in its path, rending the world to nothing more than stagnant light.Driven by the Ascian Elidibus, who spoke of a way to save their world, he and the other Warriors of Light shed their flesh, making for the Source to do his bidding as the Warriors of Darkness. Despite his machinations, the Source's Warrior of Light was able to convince them to return, to do what they can for those who still lived-- no matter the pain that'd been inflicted in their naivete.
Externally, Keiji is a man who presents himself as extremely calm and laid back, constantly composed no matter the situation. He often acts as a figure of authority, taking control of any less than ideal situation to keep the people around him calm. He has a bad habit of being a little too lackadaisical, often shoving duties off onto others while still maintaining that carefully constructed control.Despite his relaxed and amenable demeanor, he prioritizes survival first and foremost. He is not afraid to make sacrifices to save his own skin, and does so without a second thought. He's realistic, pessimistic, and even a little broody, when left to his own devices. However, he refuses to allow even an ounce of weakness to display, preferring to keep his mask perfectly put together. If he should falter, he is not above pushing even the closest of his allies away.He's got an almost dreary energy about him, constantly giving off an aura of exhaustion and boredom-- though he's not unfriendly. In fact, he still has a good sense of humor, and can be considered an incredibly down to earth person. To say Hubert von Vestra is an enigmatic sort would be an incredible understatement of the intricate nature of his character. To the outside world he is a cruel and extremely apathetic man, one who stops at nothing and will cross anyone in service of his lady Emperor, Edelgard von Hresvelg. Those who do not swear their loyalty to her are met with his extreme scorn-- deemed either useless or dangerous, depending upon their aptitude. He is incredibly calculating, and holds an awareness of motives and behaviors second to none.None in the Adrestian Empire can claim to be as unflinchingly loyal or ready to stain their hands as he, as Hubert has been known to be outright sadistic in his execution of orders, and often exists as something of a demon in the eyes of the Empire's enemies. It is his specialty, and most commonly what he uses. He has an innate ability to wield magic, though doing so without a tome often causes him physical pain and injuries, regardless of the spell. Though Hubert takes great pride in his family name, and in their position as supplementary to the house Hresvelg, the nature of his origin he takes far less pride in. This is a station he since dedicated both his life and entire being to, acting as the young lady's most ardent protector and closest confidante. Because of the difficulties he faced as a child- forced to care for four younger siblings and himself following his mother's death and father's abandonment- he developed a slew of behavioral issues that occasionally rear their head.Though he once spurned his family and their name, certain events in his youth dramatically changed his perception of his bloodline. He prides himself in being a Zeppeli, and doubly so on being able to fend for himself without need for assistance. He is extremely independent and aloof at times, though it is often masked with a flirty, charming persona— one that can certainly come off as fake or pretentious if examined too closely.He considers himself both competent and reasonably skilled, speaking to the self assuredness that Caesar gives off. Born as the eldest of five children, Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli always took on a strong, caretaking role for his younger siblings. He took pride in being helpful for his parents, and was incredibly close with the two of them. Shortly following the birth of his youngest sibling, however, his mother died to illness, leaving just the children with their father. Though Kain often comes across as a rather gloomy man, his sense of duty and devotion to his friends is second to none.
